Monograms: Not Just for Preppy People

A couple of weeks ago, one of the owners of Simply Bags contacted us about sending two monogrammed beach bags. Usually I’m a little hesitant about embroidered initials, but I had just read about monograms on a Garance Dore’s post (her blog is my fashion bible). I mean if Carine Roitfeld is getting her Lanvin bag monogrammed (see below), can’t I do it on a beach bag? I went with “Lar” instead of my initials because I’m not C.R. and because my initials are the acronym for bad cholesterol (LDL).

Polka-dot shorts from Asos.com, quarter holder necklace from Snoozer Looser, black tank from who knows where, croc friends on location at Heliotrope.

And this (above) is how you’ll usually find me when I carry my “monogram” tote, surrounded by googly-eyed crocodiles.

ps- Are you guys having a good beginning of the week? Apologies for not responding to your sweet comments, work is still using up most of my time and brain power. I’ll be back in business by the end of the week!

the monogram looks classy– somehow i think monogrammed bags splattered with the insignia of some label are really cheesy but personalising your stuff is really cool. i was looking at personalising my own satchels. . check it out!

Monograms are cute! I remember reading a piece about monogrammed items in Seventeen magazine years ago that said unlike other things, your name will never go out of style with you. There’s an element of truth to that, and when the monogram is on something as classic as your tote–well, I think it’ll be a keeper for many summers to come!

I wish I had something of mine Monogramed. I would love something similar to that black ruffle one.

I think there’s something so vintage wonderful about them.

I have a confession… I kind of love monograms. But really only on things like keychains, coffee travel mugs, etc. This beach bag, however, is great!

Hey Lar. In response to your question on the butter LONDON review post: American Apparel nail polishes are 3 free and they’re more affordable at 3 for $18. The only thing I don’t like about them is that the brush is quite long and picks up a lot of polish which drips down and floods your cuticles. I had to adjust my application technique to work with the brush. :( But formula-wise AA polishes are pretty darn great.
