I’m Moving to Seattle!

Seattle border

Hi Lovely Readers

Cath and I apologise for leaving AsianCajuns in the lurch these past few weeks. We’ve been having a think about things because I’ll be moving back to the States. Cath and I will no longer be ‘Twins blogging an ocean apart’!!!

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to be closer to my twinie — yes, still a hefty plane ride away, but at least on the same land mass with the same network providers. Matt and I will miss Edinburgh and the UK so very much as we feel very much at home here. But Matt has heard the siren call of the Pacific Northwest (i.e. he got a post doc position at the University of Washington), and, apparently, we only move to very rainy cities.

The next few months we’ll be traveling quite a bit as things wrap up here and we try to soak up all this nearby European goodness and see as much of Britain as we can. Change and travel always get my mind whirring and that lead to Cath and I deciding we’d like to change things up here on the blog.

We tend to reassess a lot these days because we know blogging isn’t a popular platform anymore. And over the past four years whilst I’ve been here we’ve really used the blog selfishly — as the way for the two of us to stay connected. It’s been lovely, but we weren’t really sure if it’s that satisfying to anyone else! Also, we’re hoping to see much more of each other when I’m stateside and won’t need AsianCajuns to be our public pen pal letter anymore.

We plan to keep blogging though — and more! But we are going to shift our blog topics slightly and get a bit more focused. I know I’m being very vague, but Cath and I want to sort of see where this takes us and if anyone has any use for it.

So if you have been a long-time reader, thank you very much for sticking with us through these many years (eight years of blogging — I feel ancient in blog years!). We’ve loved getting to know so many of you and we hope you enjoy where AsianCajuns goes next!

Ooodles of XOXOXO,

Lar

  1. Congrats to Matt!

As a long time reader who never comments, it seems like you two are more “yourselves” when you’re analyzing style/decorating, travel spots, or your favorite items. Since you will both be in the states, you will probably have more opportunity to see each other in fun locations.

I hope the blog stays around – you are both such sweet people, and it is nice to have you around the ‘nets.

    1. Hi Diana

Thank you for such a sweet comment! We will definitely continue to blog about things in our own voice — and we will definitely continue to blog!

I hope you enjoy the direction we go in, but do get in touch with us if there’s more of something else you’d like to see.

  2. I can’t wait to meet you when you’re settled in Seattle, Lar! The boy and I go there pretty often for weekend trips. You and Matt will have to come up to Vancouver too, if only for the good Asian food. 🙂

    1. Meee tooo, Lisa!!! I’m so excited to get to meet you in person –and your man, and I have seriously always wanted to see Vancouver. And any time you mention Asian food, Matt and I are there — fighting over who gets there first ;D

      Can’t wait!

  3. Please do keep blogging! I love following you guys and I want to know how things continue to unfold. Plus, I’m just finishing up a postdoc myself, so I have sympathy for the stage, and U Wash is beautiful! And. the buying a house in ATL (where I went to grad school) is a dream of mine. You do have loyal readers – keep us in the loop 🙂

    1. Hi Amy

Thank you so much for the sweet comment! We will definitely keep blogging — and really hope to blog more.

Good luck with your postdoc and I hope you get back to the ATL to buy your dream home.

  4. I’m so happy for you guys and wish nothing but the best for your move and new adventure! I’d love it if you kept the blog up so I can blog-stalk you 😉

  5. omg when are you making the big move??? that’s so exciting!!!
yes please don’t stop blogging. asiancajuns is seriously one of my favorite blogs. i don’t know what i would do without you ladies. 🙂

    1. Hi Diane!

End of September! We’ll be back in Atlanta for a week or two before that and then become West Coasters (that seems so strange — I’m sure it would for you too!).

Thank you for always being such a great supporter of AsianCajuns — it means the world to us!

You guys will have to come visit us out in Seattle!

  6. Whoa! Awesome drawing, Lar! When I first saw it, I immediately scrolled to the bottom to see where you linked it from – ha! How silly of me not to think it was by you!

    xoxo, Cath

  7. Congrats to Matt and good luck with the big move as well! A friend referred me to this blog years ago and though I don’t comment very much, this is one of the few blogs I have kept up.

True, blogging’s glory days may have past, but I think it’s fantastic that you guys have been blogging “oceans apart.” (Though the distance thing does suck!) I’ve loved reading about both your adventures, local or otherwise, so I’m excited to see what you ladies will come up with next!

  8. Hi Ro

Thanks so much for being a loyal reader and writing a comment even though you don’t usually. We love hearing from you — it means a lot to us. Blogging can sometimes feel like a vacuum, so it’s nice to know what readers might be more interested in reading.

  9. Congrats to Matt!!! I can’t imagine must be, and y’all have gone and done it. Yay!! Now you can be “Twin sisters blogging a continent apart.”

I’ve been reading for about 2 years now and would actually quite miss your letter-writing sorts of posts. I like how you include all of your fun commentary and thoughts on normal lovely blogg-y things (travel, food, fashion, beauty, etc.) within personal communication to each other. I really enjoy how intimate and personal y’all have made this site and that’s what keeps me coming back. Excited for you both and to see what new and fun things y’all come up with!!

    1. Hi Maggie!

Thank you so much for your congrats, your sweet comments and your input! And thank you for being such a loyal reader.

I love writing Cath letters too! Our posts will still be personal and definitely have our own take on things. But do let us know how you like things once we switch them up a bit.

  10. Yay for being in the same country soon! I kind of got sad when you said blogging is not popular anymore. I mean I know it’s true, but I don’t want it to be. Reading blogs is my jam, yours is among them! I will keep reading, for sure! Best wishes to you both.

    1. Hi Amanda

Thanks so much for letting us know you still read blogs! I hope blogs do stick around too, but I know instagram and youtube have become more popular platforms for a lot of people.

I’m so glad you’re still blogging too and there is still a community that keeps in touch.

      xoxo,
      Lar

  11. Congrats on your big move! We love the Pacific Southwest and hope to end up there when we come back to the States. How funny that I stumbled on your blog researching what it would be like living in Edinburgh and now we are almost changing places. Best of luck! Can’t wait to see how your blog develops with the changes. Cheers!

    1. Hi Deserae!

And congrats to you guys moving over here to Edinburgh — it’s such a beautiful place! I can’t wait to hear all you see and do whilst you’re here.

      xoxo,
      Lar

  12. hi ladies! I’ve been reading/stalking/enjoying your lives both here and on instagram. 🙂 I started reading a few years back, I think right when the big move to Scotland was happening, and it’s been so awesome to see how things have played out. And it makes me think about/question/consider what I’ve been doing in that same time anyway, I selfishly ask that you please keep writing/’gramming and being all around cool 🙂 It makes me happy when there’s a new post to read or pics to look at!

    1. HI CL!

Your comments always make our day(s)! We will definitely keep instagramming and blogging, don’t you worry. And I’ll make sure to get lots of Edinburgh pics in before we leave here in the autumn.

Thank you for being such a fantabby reader!

  13. Oh! and I didn’t meant to leave out the Decatur home, new digs in a new ‘hood, and write ups on all the ATL stuff too, especially the boutiques and things. 🙂

  14. Well, I would miss you if you were gone! I feel like I know you guys, even though I don’t in real life. Fellow Atlantans unite!

    1. Hi Steph!

Thanks for the sweet comment! And we love knowing fellow-Atlantans are reading!

      xoxo,
      Lar
