End of a Rut: Hello Lace Tights and Sparkle!

You guys are angels! I’m crediting you all for getting me out of my winter doldrums! After reading all your helpful suggestions of what you would do to stave off the layers of black I’ve been schlepping around the past couple months, I did it! Colorful tights! Accessories! Sparkle! I really had forgot I had a lot of this in my closet.

This might be less impressive to some, but Cath and I haven’t been shopping in over a month. The last time was at the Decatur Boutique sale. So I shopped in my closet for these two outfits. Above: dress is forever21, H&M Jacket, AA tights, boots from Cherry Bomb (local L5P boutique), necklace from Evolve Boutique (another local boutique by Emory).

Isn’t this necklace gorgeous?! I did buy this at the boutique sale last month from Evolve Boutique. It’s refabbed from an Indian sari. I love to think about the history of a reused piece. If a piece of fabric could talk, huh?

I love the rust color of these tights. I know AA isn’t cheap when it comes to their hosiery, but they are really soft and fairly durable.

Now I loooove these tights. They are lacy, but not itchy. I got them at Rockit boutique in Decatur, but they are by Look from London and sold online.

Everything else in this outfit is anywhere from one year to five years old.

So what do you have planned for the weekend? A little closet shopping? I think I might do more now that this week’s shopping “trip” was so successful. Thanks again for all your help with the fashion doldrums! This is just another lovely perk to blogging- fantastic advice from fellow fashionistas/os.

  1. Yay! I am way impressed that you haven’t been shopping for a month! That’s awesome! And you came up with some really fabulously fun outfits. Also, I love those shoes!

  2. I’m totally impressed that you guys haven’t shopped in a month–and why shop when you have so many fabulous things in your closet already! Those booties are kick ass and I love how you mixed up the black with pretty lace tights and necklaces. I think I need to take a page from you and your readers because I have way too much black and I’m so bored with it.

  3. Aaakk! I know what you mean about hunting for lacy tights which aren’t itchy. They’re a rarity. And you did so well getting out of the winter fashion rut. Sometimes dressing only for comfort becomes addicting.

  4. I love the necklace! I’m a freshman at Emory, and I feel soo lost, I’ve been shopping at Lennox (ughh). My mission for this semester is to scope out all the cute boutiques around here, you guys always seem to find the cutest things around here =)

  5. That is a beautiful necklace! Good conversational piece πŸ™‚ Those Cherry Bomb boots, how are they on your ankles? I bought a pair of Dollhouse booties and they cut off at the same place just below the ankle bone and they KILLED. Hurt so much πŸ™ Maybe because the sides had no give. Anyway they look great on you and I’m still on the hunt for a pain-free pair πŸ™‚

  6. Great outfits! I’m glad you found a way out of the all-neutral rut. And AA tights are pricey compared to other places, but back in November I remember them having a “Buy 2, get one free” special on their hosiery. Considering how well they hold up, that’s quite a deal!

  7. That necklace is sooo pretty. It’s a bit of history around your neck.
I finally feel all inspired again and I’m itching to dress up.only there is going to be a 3 day snow storm starting today so I’ll be in a plow truck for days in trackpants with bags under my eyes. yay.:(

  8. Both of the outfits are amazing!! I love that necklace and those colorful tights!! And I love the more business-like outfit with those awesome lace tights. Fabulous πŸ™‚

  9. That’s a baeutiful nacklace. If I am not wrong, then it’s made from “Zardozi” embroidery, a wonderful technique from India.

I have been closet shopping for a while now, and you’d be surprised how many new styles/looks I have been able to create. And “Yay” to your shopping free month.

  10. I’m totally impressed with your lack of shopping! I can’t help but feel compelled to go to the shops after reading my hundreds of blogs I’m subscribed to. I love these looks you put together–those shoes in the first outfit are killer!

  11. Gosh I’ve got to get myself some red tights – I keep seeing a pair in accessorize and I never seem to get around to buying them *sigh* how unlike me! That recycled sari necklace is beautiful.

  12. Don’t you love shopping out of your closet. it helps you to be a little more creative about your wardrobe and even re-discover the amazing treasures it holds! You look great Lar. πŸ™‚ I love the refabed necklace from a sari. Totally beautiful.

It’s Friday and I’m so exciting. This weekend I’m relaxing and that’s it. It’s been a long work week. Hope you’re doing well! Take care. HUGS.

    xx Love & Aloha

  13. That necklace is a stunning piece! Wow. I really love the fact it has been reworked from a sari. The coloured tights and booties are so lovely too.

Re: Burberry. Ahhh I know right? I can’t believe that I had the opportunity to be there. Hard to comprehend now, it all feels like a dream!

  14. I adore the necklace, it totally fits with this folk art theme i’ve been kinda obsessed with this past week. Even cooler that its made from a sari. Such a story indeed! Great tights also.
