Ode to HELMUT (Lang)

I’ve been a huge fan of Helmut Lang for years now. I love the line’s deconstructed and simplified designs. Like most fancy, schmancy, gorgeous designer lines, Helmut Lang pieces are mostly for the 1%. And like most designer lines, Helmut Lang also has a more “affordable” line called HELMUT – for the 10%.

This gray top was my first HELMUT piece that I purchased at a secondhand shop a few years ago and this is my brand new HELMUT piece that I purchased with a Shopbop giftcard:

HELMUT Voltage Draped Ribbed Cardigan • Madewell silk tank • The Limited skirt • Shoes from Eviva Boutique • necklace was mom’s • watch is a birthday gift from friends

I’m not really sure why my face is so overexposed in the above photo. Could be something wonky with my iPhone camera. Or it could be my inner glow shinning through. Who knows?

I originally bought this cardigan to wear to in Scotland when I visit Lar (in 24 days!!!). However, it ended up being much more delicate than I realized – a little too flimsy for a Scottish “summer.” Good thing it’s perfect for this hot Georgia summer – at least perfect for the airconditioned office.

I’m usually not so devoted to labels, but this purchase warrants a close up of my wonky eyebrows the tag and light-as-a-feather material.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Thursday/pre-Friday!

Dearest Lar,

I know your week has been even busier than mine, but I hope you’ve had a little bit of downtime.

I think I’ll just have to crack into my winter clothes when I pack for my trip to Scotland next month. I’m getting so used to the intense heat here (but still complain about it all the time), that I’ll be freezing in the 50 degree weather. I mean, I’m going to have to pack socks for goodness sakes! Apart from working out I haven’t worn a pair of socks in months!

Do you have anything fun planed for the weekend? I might go see Brave with Brie and Michelle and then I’m going to spend the rest of my time working on my stats paper and other homework. Exciting, right? My final is in two weeks – eep!

Love and miss you as always,

xoxo Cath

  1. You look great! I love Helmut Lang too. They always have sample sales in NY with Theory. Didn’t know it was made in Canada? Awesome!

  2. Kitcath, you loook beeeyoootiful! Hehehe maybe it is partly to do with your inner glow. sooo purdy 😉
And 10%-er lines, heehe. So true! We must be part of the 15% because the 10% lines are still a bit to expensive aren’t they?
You should still pack the HELMUT sweater because August is supposed to be better than July (by better they might mean the sun comes out for more than 15 minutes in the span of two weeks — so it’s a low bar). I usually wear a shirt or blouse with a jacket and scarf, jeans and boots of some kind — and that’s all. okay, I did wear my winter coat the other day, but that was excessive 😉
23 DAYS left!!!! Seee youuu soooooon!!!
    xoxoxox,
