Jumping on the Peplum Bandwagon

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a peplum dress for a while – like this gorgeous Alice + Olivia blue version. At the same time I’ve been trying not to spend any money so I can save up for my plane ticket to go see Lar in August. Enter my mom to the rescue! She found this super cute, French-inspired, peplum top with belt at Marshalls. Not too shabby, non?

Top with belt from Marshalls • Spotted Moth skirt • Dolce Vita heels • Muji watch

The best thing about this outfit is the comfort level. The top and skirt are made out of jersey-like materials and the cuts are conservative enough to be work appropriate. If I could wear this outfit everyday I would.

Love the zipper detail in the back – totally unnecessary but adds a little je nais se quoi. Okay, I need to wrap this post up before I write any more cheesy, overly-used, Americanized French sayings.

Hope you all have a happy pre-Friday!

Dearest Lar,

I’m going to hold out one more week before buying my ticket because I’ve been told that the prices might drop a bit more. I really hope so!

I hope the weather is a little warmer by the time I come to visit since all of my winter clothes are packed up. I don’t think shorts and tanks are going to work well in Edinburgh.

Skype date on Saturday?

Love, cath

  1. Your little labels are the best, always make me giggle. “le chien” “oh la la!” Makes me wish those captions appeared in real life above people or things.

  2. Oh my goodness, Kitcath! You look beeyoootiful! I love that peplum top and the belt is just beautiful. I have so many stripey tops in my closet, but nothing as pretty and je ne sais quoi-y. (Brilliant eye, Bunkie!)

We will have to schedule a skype date for late Sunday evening (6:30 pm your time?) because I’ll be in Oxford until then. Is that okay?

Miss you so much, but can’t believe you will have a plane ticket soooooon!

    1. Ah! Of course! Why do I keep forgetting you’re going to Oxford this weekend? I really want you to wear a gown while you’re there and pretend you’re Harry Potter ;). Or you know, do the whole Brideshead Revisted and take a boat ride with your teddy bear in tow. Wait, is that Cambridge?! I can never remember. . .

  3. Holy balls, Cath, you look adorable!! I love that peplum top. I have one just like it. I think I’ll wear it tomorrow. it looks SOOOOO damn adorable with that belt.

I miss you. I wish you could come visit Hawaii.

  4. Love the dress! And love that peplum isn’t too “wingy” – know what I mean? Sometimes it looks like the person is smuggling goods under their peplums!!

  5. I LURVE the stripey peplum! I still haven’t gotten myself any peplum-ed items, which is a shame, really, because it looks so good!

  6. Cath I love this look. Cuteness! I haven’t jumped on the peplum bandwagon, but I do adore the look. There’s nothing better than a hot outfit that’s comfy! Fab.

  7. I’ve been curious about this trend too, and I tried on that exact shirt at TJ. You look absolutely adorable in it! Unfortunately, I did not look so cute.
