Cath’s House vs. Lar’s Flat

Cath and I have lived apart now for five months (minus our holiday stent in Paris), and I really, really, really don’t like it. Really, really, really. Six reallys. And it’s more of a hate rather than a dislike. I really(x 6) hate it.

We are obviously separate people living separate lives, but I’m not entirely sure I can deal with that. When we lived in Atlanta we didn’t see each other daily, but knowing that I could drop everything and be by Cath’s side in five minutes or less was key. Now I can drop everything and be by Cath’s side in 10 hours (if I had gobs of moola and no lay overs). I feel like I’ve adjusted to living abroad in every way except for that.

I really don’t feel quite whole being so far from her — it’s just one of those twin things. So in order to banish that feeling of half-ish-ness, I like looking at what her home looks like and to see what she’s up to (thank you, blog). So these photos aren’t meant to be a comparison, just a peak at how small the differences are between us each day — it makes those 10 hours distance feel more like five minutes.

  1. Awww how fast has 5 months flown by? I obviously don’t have a twin but I love the company of my sisters so having a twin like Cath, must be crazy and so hard to adjust when they’re so far away. I’m glad you guys have the blog!

  2. i couldn’t live that far away from my sis either. i thought her being in cali for like 3 yrs was bad. and i love all the pics!!! and i wish i could find billy balls here in houston. those are one of my fav flower/plants.

  3. I love this post, AsianCajuns! As the boy and I talk more and more about buying a home together, my thoughts increasingly turn to how to decorate the space. Your spaces look lovely: cozy and organized, stylish without being overly stylized.

  4. When i understand what belongs to who without seeing the name labels, what am i?
a freaking great follower/reader of this blog, that’s what i am.
i mean ok i understand who is who by your oh so different styles, but bedrooms and stuff?
    i am awesome.
lol. ok enough with me. (i am becoming so posh that’s not nice at all).
love your blog a while now, well i’ve been a fan from back then when you had it under a blogspot url. but i never ever had the guts to write a comment, so this is my first time.
i am sorry for the extremely long, irrevelant and quite posh comment. my comments are all over the place as usual.
cath love your picture board, shoes (what a fab collection) and Lar love the decoration of your house.
    love you ladies.

  5. I love the organic glamour of Cath’s home. It’s got a modern, organic glam sort of element. Whereas Lar’s flat is whimsical, colorful and eclectic, just like her.

I always love seeing people’s homes, as it’s a reflection of their style and personalities.

This makes me want to have more flowers in our home, but I can’t justify paying the “Paradise Tax” on things like flowers. The Hawaii mark up in daily goods like flowers is insane. 🙁 sad times for my counter tops. Maybe one day I’ll just jump the gun and buy flowers somewhere. Maybe. You girls are so inspiring.

    me ke aloha, Mae
