Ode to Decatur

We tend to mention Decatur (our adopted hometown) a lot on this blog. For those of you not familiar with it, Decatur is a teeny-tiny, progressive city that borders the east side of Atlanta. As individuals and as bloggers, we’ve gotten a lot of support from the local community so we try to give back every chance we get.

In addition to some local volunteering and seeing if we’re smarter than Decatur 5th Graders (turns out we’re about on par), we’re also contributing to the Decatur Tourism blog – the perfect place to go if you are a first-time visitor to Decatur or a long-time resident. You can see a list of the other blog contributors here. I just finished our first post so have a look around.

We also shot a short video a couple months ago for Decatur’s Tourism site that I’ve been meaning to post. I always kind of cringe when I see myself on video, but I love that I’m side by side with Lar. Plus, there was a professional involved – thank goodness for the power of editing!

So let us know when you are next in town! We’d love to be your tour guides.

  1. wow decatur looks ADORABLE! i’ve never been to georgia.except driving through on my way to disneyworld and in the atlanta airport.but i don’t think that counts ๐Ÿ˜› i actually have a good friend that lives down there. so if i ever visit i most certainly will let you girls know! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I think it would be fun to go for an afternoon for second hand shopping together when I’m in town. I’ll be there for my friends’ wedding on April 9th, so if we could spare an hour or two meeting you that weekend would be fab! What kind of stuff could we get for $100? I think that would be a fun collaborative effort for a great post. “Blog friends meet and run amok in Decatur for $100!”

๐Ÿ˜› I think copious video shots should be taken as well. My camera takes HD video, yea!

I can’t wait to meet you two! PS. Nate probably will not join us, since he’s shy and it’s his best friends’ brother’s wedding, so he’ll probably be running around with his BFFs that day.

    XX.

  3. Ah, Cute video ! Me and Baby Yoshi want to come visit lol. Not anytime soon though (too much to do at home). If we are ever in the area we will leave a comment.

  4. cool video! and lol at olivia’s comment. whenever I read it on here I pronounce it in my head as ‘deca-TEUR’ as though it’s some fancy french name.

  5. Woohoo, Decatur! You ladies make it look good! I’m a former resident (and also a graduate of Agnes Scott). My friend Tabitha of Fashion Therapist recently told me about your blog and I got super excited, knowing there are other ASC gals out rocking the fashion blog-o-sphere. Love your style and, of course, seeing your rings flashing all over the place.

I actually remember you from school, I think. I graduated it ’04. Small world, eh? ๐Ÿ™‚
