It’s like the Sartorialist all over again – except this time it was at Jackson Fine Arts and there were more photography people and fewer fashiony people. (For those of you not familiar with The Selby, check out his blog here. It is the ultimate in voyeuristic sophistication – I mean what’s more sophisticated that greedily eying wealthy, eccentric peoples’ closets?!).
Todd Selby was very nice, even when Cath and I didn’t recognize him at first- whoops! He even let us take a photo of his shoes- aren’t they lovely?
Ohhh and look at this! Last night was not the first time we “met” Todd. Way back in the day, August 25, 2008 to be exact, Cath and I did a tribute post to The Selby and look who commented!!! Here is the faux Selby shoot we took back in the day- click here.
Below Cath is waiting to ambush talk to Todd with his book in hand- which I stupidly forgot to get signed in my oh-so-cool way of meeting celebrities (“Hiii Hi Hi! Love your work! Your shoes are awesome ohmygosh can we get a picture with you? Oh cool cool yeah awesome Thank YOU!” Just a warning to you readers-who-will-be-celebrities, my charming way will make you weak in the knees).
Oh yeah! And this is what we wore.
On Cath:
Necklace, Rockit Boutique in Decatur | Sweater is H&M | Top is from LA | Skirt is from???
On moi:
Necklace is also from Rockit | Shirt is thrifted | Skirt is from a small boutique in Birmingham | Belt is a gift from this lovely lady | Boots are over-the-knee Jeffrey Campbell
Lastly, in the spirit of seeing Mr. Selby last night, I took a pic of Cath’s apartment. I just love it there. It’s teeny but in a cozy way not in a claustrophobic way, and it always smells so good. Cath is, I guarantee, the neatest person you’ll ever meet (I mean “neat” in every way possible) and she has such a good eye. I’m definitely having her help me when I move to Matt’s place.
Speaking of which (are you guys still there? Sorry this is such an epically long post! Way to go if you made it this far!), Cath ordered three possible maid-of-honor dresses, and we want you guys to tell us which you like best. Keep an eye out in the next few posts!
Happy Saturday, Readers! Tell us what you’re up to this weekend!
What a jacket!!!
Awesome! I love his work so much.
Such seriously amazing outfits, both of you! Love!
I would have done the same thing (about the signature and fangirling!)
I’m really loving the rug in Cath’s apt. Where is it from? I’m looking for a new one because we got a Target Dwell rug and it sheds so much! Just by rubbing your toes across it, it’s like an animal. So we need something much simpler and cute like hers!
You girls look Fabulous as usual ! I am really into those statement necklaces. I forwarded a Stylish Blogger Award to you on my last post. I am not sure I did it right but Hopefully you will check it out. You Girls deserve a stylish blogger award. Your blog is the first blog I ever consistently followed. Keep up the Great work.
Loving the outfits ladies! Long skirts are the best. In another vein, I did a similar stutter/awkward/excited blubbering when I met Mo Rocca back in the day-so fun that you got to meet The Selby! Can’t wait to see bridesmaid dresses:)
You ladies look great. I can’t wait to see these maid-of-honor dresses!!!
you girls look super adorable! i <3 both of your outfits. 🙂
So cool that you got to meet him! I love both your outfits — the long skirts are awesome.
Sorry I haven’t visited in a whilebut rest assured I’ve missed reading your posts and hearing about all your adventures!
Cath- I love how you style that maxi skirt! AND as always, your apt is adorable!
Lar- Thanks for the wedding updates, can’t wait to see the MOH dresses!!
Very Maharaja slash Woody with those shoes and horn-rimmed glasses. I’d love to meet the Selby. He was one of my first interior photography obsessions. In other news, its been a while since I’ve visited but so nice to see the two of your looking gorgeous and rocking those maxi skirts and sheer skirts and looking all sassy!
I am so glad you guys got to go because I don’t know anyone else who did. Love the outfits and love the pic you took with Todd. I’m so jealous. ; )
It was great meeting you ladies at The Selby event!!!! As you can tell, I was just a tad bit excited :). I bought his book which was autographed but I wanted him to personalize it so I found him in the sea of people and glad I did. He is very nice. Keep up the good work.
Hi Danielle, I’m so glad you said hey to us at the gallery – it totally made our night. Thanks so much for reading AsianCajuns! – Cath

Kristine. Or Polly.
Where is the seat cover from? The ikea sofa looks so much better with it!
Hey Manny, The cover is from Bemz.com. They make the most amazing Ikea covers.
Oh rad. Was he as short in real life as the sartorialist is? Oh and skirts with pockets FTW.
Love the pic of Cath’s apt! Would like to do something similar in my room.where did you get the fab deer head?
