Stuff That Makes Me Happy

As I’m writing this Lar and her bf are flying across the Atlantic to Scotland – my favorite place on earth. They’ll be meeting up with friends and staying in a cottage on the west coast north of Glasgow and finishing their trip in Edinburgh. Not only am I insanely jealous, I also already miss Lar like crazy.

To distract myself I’ve decided to focus on some fun stuff.

1.) AsianCajun playlist on Songza!
Songza is like Pandora and every social media site all rolled into one. You can create a playlist and then friends can add their own songs to it.  Listen to the AsianCajuns Songza Playlist and add your favorites to our hodge podge of songs. I’m obsessed with this site and listen to it at work all the time now.

2.) New Ann Taylor Concept Store in Atlanta
In honor of the store opening, our Atlanta readers will receive a 20% discount at the new Lenox mall store when they say “There’s a new Ann in town” at checkout. The deal ends on Sept. 5. Make sure you get over there – I’ll be visiting tomorrow!

3.) Atlanta Bocce Ball!
The inaugural season of the Atlanta Bocce League starts Sept. 15 and continues every Wednesday night at Piedmont Park. It’s a co-ed league with league bars and drink specials every week. On top of all that, Whynatte and Esperanza, two of our favorite local companies, are league partners.

4.)Imogene + Willie
I’m trying to figure out when I can make a special trip to Nashville just to check out Imogene + Willie. The store sells the designers’ premium denim (they suggest washing denim in the tub or a creek) and other lovely Americana items, like vintage cowboy boots, in a beautifully retro-fitted gas station. I love the videos on their website including this one:

  1. maybe i can convince the husband to move back to atlanta with this bocce thing. i got him a bocce set for our anniversary last year, and he plays ALL the time

    1. Seriously? That would be awesome to get some pointers from him. I like to play but I’m not very good.

      1. i had never even heard of bocce ball until i married him, and then he was all like “bocce this, bocce that.” there’s actually a restaurant near our house that has bocce courts in it. i’m not very good- i can’t throw hard enough.

  2. you like Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, too?? <3 Thao is such a natural performer!

and how lucky is Lar? We'll keep you company, Cat! 🙂

  3. Going to see the new Ann in town soon – thanks for letting us know, although I do have to be in the mood to deal with Lenox ha ha ha. So funny I was thinking I want to just get in the car and head up 75 N towards the mountains to scout some little shops and American Indian beauties. Now there is one more reason to just go to Nashville – between Imogene + Willie and Spanish Moss Vintage moving there- I have all the reasons in the world to go!

  4. So this is the second time I’ve heard of Pandora ever and it’s twice in one day! I checked out your station, do you chose the music? Because if you do holy franz ferdinand, otis redding, when in rome AND peter gabriel’s ‘in your eyes’. I thought only I had randoms, oldies and 80’s on high rotation. I don’t want to alarm you, but i think we’re musical soulmates.

    1. Yes! This makes me feel so much better. I was feeling a little unsure about how all over the place my song choices were. And yes, you choose your own music when you make a station.

  5. Such a great post!! I love to check out Songza right now! And I love Ann Taylor store; I used to think they’re for older ladies but I was wrong! xxxoxoxoxoxoo

    1. Yes. Ann Taylor has loosened up a bit. You can still find great work pieces, but now they’re a little more up to date.

  6. Imogene+Willie is awesome! I know a few people who have checked it out and all love it. secret forts did a cool write up on them too. Definitely on my must-see list.
