Back From the Beach

After four glorious days in Ocean City, MD, I’m back home half a shade darker (I pretty much drown myself in SPF when I’m at the beach so I don’t get much of a tan), a few pounds heavier (drank a lot of Dogfish Head beer, got my fill of Utz potato chips and Tasty Cakes) and am ready for another vacation (there are hundreds of emails in my inbox at work that I have yet to tackle).

Cassius sunglasses, Torn tank and black denim shorts from the U.O. sales rack last summer.

I usually read nothing but trashy mags at the beach, but on this trip I mixed in some more substantial reading like Vogue and Dwell. I like to stick to summer dresses at the beach, but I seemed to have given away almost all of them last year. So my vacation uniform consisted of tanks, shorts, sunglasses and flippy floppies.

Maybe it was the four years he spent in LA or his love for thrift stores, but I think my bf has great beach style. You can’t really tell in this photo, but the thrifted shirt he’s wearing has pastel blue, pink and green threads running throughout it.

After attending a wedding in Baltimore, we vacationed in Ocean City because my family has a condo on 94th Street. Lar and I grew up going to the condo every summer and it’s wonderful. My dad and aunt bought the place about 40 years ago and it’s never been redecorated – shag carpet, faux wood paneling and avocado green appliances. Want to see photos? Just wait for the next post!

  1. Oh it looks like you guys had such a wonderful time! I cover myself in SPF too as I tan super fast and prefer to get a healthy glow rather than a full on tan! When I was younger, I went on holiday to the South of France and returned and my mom said she didn’t even recognise me!

Oooh and pics of a 70’s condo? Yes please!

  2. GOD! What if we don’t want to wait til the next post! HURRY AND POST!

You look fab and so happy. I love it. I miss the beach.

  3. I’m so jealous. I need a vacation sooo badly. I haven’t had one in almost 2 years!

When my family goes to the beach, we all bring books and read in our beach chairs all day. I love it. The ocean and endless reading. What could be better? Endless knitting? Probably not at the beach tho.

  4. I miss being near the beach. I am originally from Corpus Christi Tx which has a beautiful beach and now I am in Seattle. So jealous !

  5. Sounds like you had a great time! I’ve only been to Ocean City once during a summer- my college ex is from MD so we rented out some house for a week- it was super fun! xo, mel

  6. Your condo sounds retro dreamy! And welcome back from the beach. I know what you mean about the tan – I just have to walk past a lightbulb and I get darker πŸ˜‰
