Jean Paul Gaultier at Urban PL8

Dress is Jean Paul Gaultier for Target and shoes are from Cherry Bomb (in L5P).

So the title of this post is a liiiittle misleading. Jean Paul Gaultier did not dine at the scrumptious West Midtown restaurant Urban PL8. Nor do I actually own anything truly Jean Paul Gaultier, but! I did wear my new Jean Paul Gaultier for Target dress to consume the deliciousness offered at Urban PL8. (Luckily the dress has some stretch in it so I could happily chug a beer and eat three courses without a problem).

My bf and two of my lovely (recently engaged- so sweet!) friends decided to join us at Urban PL8- encouraged by our 50% off coupon that we scored through Scoutmob (I am my father’s daughter- the Asian in me loves a good coupon).

Old Chub Scottish Ale:

The Lily Nutburger (so deeelicious and very spicy- I swear even meat-eaters would love this vegan-friendly burger):

The best pizza I’ve ever had (duck confit):

And the pièce de résistance! a halved, toasted Krispy Kreme served over vanilla icecream (and why I needed the spandexy dress):

Apart from its ability to stretch, there are other qualities to recommend this dress: stripes (I love stripes, especially ones that look french-i-fied), the drape-y piece that wraps from the front to the back neckline, and the fact that there is so much going on with the dress, I don’t have to worry about accessorizing (unless you count Sally the hair pouf).

The dress came on the hanger with the sashy/drapey bit coming straight down- so i tired it on at first with the sash between my legs. It looks like a jumper/harem pant combo- yipe! So not what Jean was going for, I think.

If I could figure out a way to wear the sash as a hood (without feeling too self-conscious), I totally would. I ended up belting the dress to shorten it and show off the sash (see top photo in post), and I think that’s the way to go with this dress out in public. One day I’ll work up the chutzpah to think I look good in a harem pant jumper- in the mean time. a girl can dream (and/or just take photos for her fashion blog).

Happy Monday, lovely readers! This weekend went by way too quickly didn’t it? After this delicious meal on Saturday night, the bf and I met up with more friends and ate our way through Japanese cuisine all of Sunday (next post you will see a bowl of piping hot Ramen- yum yum yum). I know it’s not just me. who else thinks fashion and food go really well together?

ps- Thanks for featuring me last week, Chicisimo!

    1. A few weeks ago, I think! It caught me by surprise too. I was just at Target to buy some shampoo. $100 later, I leave with two pieces from the JPG for Target collection.

  1. I’m still amazed at how differently the sexes respond to Target. I’d be hard pressed to remember if I’ve ever really shopped there.but every girl, I mean every girl, has some sort of special relationship with it. Maybe ’cause you can get dope clothes there.

ps. Duck confit is the truth! It’s good in tacos too.

  2. Lar, I just woke up and your post made me hungry. And then ramen mmmm. You are rocking the stripes! Fabulous.

    xo, becs

p.s. when you get a chance, can you update your links with my new URL? Dropped the ‘wordpress’. thanks so much! x

  3. Oh you look so lovely in that dress, so cute. Looks like such a great time with your friends/bf, that couples pic is one to keep! I’ve just had my dinner but that food looks so yummy and I definitely wouldn’t say no to that!

  4. Oh Lar that food looks oooo yummy!

And wow!! Great minds think alike, because I got that dress on our recent trip to Oahu (yah, Maui still doesn’t have a Target, wth!!). I found the draping kinda weird, but that’s why I got it I love that it’s unusual. Love how you styled it. I’ll need to try mine with a belt. Still haven’t used it, but can’t wait. I also got the puffy yellow halter dress. Did you see it?? It makes a lot of “noise” but I love how poofy it is on me!! Can’t wait to wear that one too!

    I hope you’re having a beautiful day!

    xx Love & Aloha

  5. first of all the food looks so delicious and I am starving so that doesnt help.I love your pics, they are so adorable, it looks adorable on you, you are so tiny!

  6. Alas, I couldn’t find the dress at Target by my house; though it does look great on you:( I’ll be heading back to check out the Cynthia Vincent footwear line once it touches down either way. The Krispy Kreme desert is over the top in a great way.

  7. love your creativity with the dress. It’s very french with all the black and white stripes. I’m definitely on the lookout for more stripes for spring summer.

that food looks good! I never thought about toasting a krispy kreme though.
