The cold, rainy Atlanta weather has me daydreaming about Paris. Not the pastel Marie Antoinette/Sofia Coppola version, but the turn-of-the-century smokey coffee house and cold artist garrett version.
To…uh… celebrate my moody Paris daydreams, I’ve been playing a lot of Edith Piaf (to Cath’s chagrin) and went with a French ingenue outfit for work during the week: a black satin ribbon, white button-up, and flats (a rarity at Chez AsianCajuns).

Thrifted shirt, found ribbon, AA skirt, Capezio shoes, book is The Parasites by Daphne du Maurier.

Background print from this Etsy seller.
I’ve only been to Paris for about three days in my entire life (three days of pastry-eating and Louvre haunting), so I’ve based most of my ideas about the city off of movies. What is your favorite rainy, moody environment? My second choice would be some old library in the middle of nowhere (again, based on watching numerous movies set in the British country-side). Books, music and pastries seem a safe bet against chilly autumnal weather, non?
Happy Weekend, mes amis!!!

I tend to agree: books, music and pastries are indeed a safe bet against chilly autumnal weather, as well as DVDs of Rome.

October 22nd, 2009 at 7:03 pmCute outfit! I have the same question as hanako66–are you wearing jazz shoes or are they street shoes in the style of jazz flats?
Hmm when I was little, rainy days (and we have a lot of them in Vancouver!) always made me wish I had a bay window next to a rose trellis. I’d sit in the windowseat wrapped up in blankets with hot tea and a good book.

October 23rd, 2009 at 9:36 amLar, you crack me up. Love that sassy ribbon bow. I’ve never been to Paris, but I always miss upstate NY when it gets rainy and cold. Those rolling hills are beautiful when the clouds get low.

I have spent a lot of time in Paris, and I still cry when I think about brasseries and coffee shops in the 5th arrondissement… not to mention all the crepes from booths in the streets. I should not even have to mention the fashion spotting and shopping.

October 25th, 2009 at 10:28 amBritish countryside, hands down. Something that would’ve come out of “Brideshead Revisited,” probably. Or maybe even Oxford Univ. itself. I loved squirreling myself away inside the library during the winter. You can never fail with black + white.
