Thigh Highs and a Jacket

I am now 100% ready for the Fall. I don’t enjoy the colder weather and the shorter days (and what’s with the depressing rain, ATL?). The layers are fun and I like jackets (like this faux leather doo-dad I have on), but what I really live for during cold weather is the boots.

This year I finally succumbed to the over-the-knee trend. I toyed with the idea last year, but didn’t pounce until I saw these Jeffrey Campbells a few months ago. I decided if I wanted to do over-the-knee I really had to commit. I wanted the boot as high up the leg as possible (not just kissing the knee)- and these fit perfectly and feel divine.

To keep them from looking too “Lady of the Night” I’ll avoid miniskirts and pair them with oversized tops and skinny pants. My old men’s H&M shirt grazes the tops of the boots- I like that. Good work, chambray.

What do you guys think? Are you a fan of the Pretty Women boots or no? You know either way I’ll wear them around until it gets back up to the 80 degrees next spring, but I’m curious to know what you think when you see boots this tall (tall or high?). If the you are looking for an over-the-knee boot sans heel, check out these gorgeous ones the lovely Becs of Style with Benefits found.

  1. Loovee your new purchase! you look awesome, and i love that you can pull those boots off even though you are only around 5’3″, i believe?! gives me hope 🙂

    1. Oh thank you, Judy! Yes, I was mainly worried about the height issue and that’s why I didn’t buy a pair last year, but I think they can be flattering for a shortie like me- especially if I wear them with black pants.

  2. Big fan of the Lady of the Night look. even though my thigh highs are not as tall as yours, so I keep telling myself I can get away with wearing them with mini skirts. 😀

  3. Co-sign for sure. And extra credit for the chambray! They look more like really chic riding boots more than boots of the strumpet variety. I think with any article of clothing, it’s much more about how you wear it, rather than the connotations that are associated with it on its own.

ps. Freemans is awesome, no? If you ever are in NY for sure eat there.

  4. Just adore them, lady! Gotta start giving my own pair some use . and totally agree that skinnies and an oversized top is the way to go.

  5. Whoa! You rock these!!! They fit you perfectly, goodness me. And right now I’m totally kicking myself for not picking up this amazing jean shirt.so regretting it right now, gosh I want to go to the store right now (in my pjs) just to check if it’s still there.
    xx
p.s. you look good in everything.just sayin’.

  6. The boots look great. More stylish superhero (as played by Ms. Jolie) than lady of the night. Well done you.

  7. OMG I saw those boots on Urban Outfitter’s website and was drooling over them!!! So jealous!!! I wanted to buy them but my main concern was my man calves and if the boots would fit over them! lol How do they fit? Tight or roomy?

  8. Oh honey, you coudn’t look lady-of-the-night if you tried. Okay well, actually, maybe if you REALLY tried. Like with a feather boa and green fishnets and visible garter belts.

As it is, you look classy and awesome. And kind of like a badass.

  9. You look amazing!! Kind of remind me of Alexander Wang jacket! I wish I could wear boots here but I think my legs would toast.lol 🙂 xoxoxoxxo

  10. LOVE it!!! I too, was looking for a very high up on the thigh pair.I pre-ordered quite a while back and should have them this week.hoping they look as great as yours!

  11. You look great! But I’m so so so so glad you’re going to avoid the teeny mini-skirt look. I’ve got a pair of gray over-the-knee boots sitting around somewhere. probably in Boston. I’ll have to have them mailed to me.

  12. Lar, you look amazing! Love the whole look, and your boots fit like a glove! Thanks so much for the super sweet shout-out too! 🙂

    xo, Becs

  13. I’m curious as to whether i can rock the thigh high boots, but I always feel like they will accentuate the largest part of my legs which is usually what I”m trying to avoid!! You can definitely pull them off 🙂 Great outfit!

  14. Wow!! You look simply amazing, you made me wish there’s a reason for me to wear thigh highs in a hot and humid country like this:P Is it me or is your getting wavier? It’s really pretty:)

  15. i really like these! i would be too scared to wear such high ones, good for you cuz. they are all over paris. I’m trying to jump for some over the knee ones that can fold to either be knee high or over the knee, a bit more piratey and conservative. lol.

    rock em!

  16. I LOVE this outfit. I love that shirt! Can I have that shirt? Those boots, my god!!! You’re a ballsey girl and I like that about you.

  17. I love this boots, is difficult to wear them , because sometimes they can look as you said “Lady of the Night”.

you look like a rockstar with that jacket.
    enjoy winter dear!

    Kisses!

  19. those boots look wonderful on you! and you make them look classy not trashy! i want those boots ! i want those boots ! i want those boots ! i want those boots !

  20. I think they are incredible and you wear them perfectly!! Do avoid the skin tight mini-dress to prevent any awkward Pretty Woman misunderstandings but with the kind of masculine shirt they are perfection!

  21. YES!!!! I LIVE for these boots right now! I have the same ones but in gray suede and I wore mine with black skinnies and a red and white gingham Wrangler shirt the other day and I loved it. We must have some sort of ESP going on here.
