Hello all! Lar and I are back in the swing of the things and will be posting consistently from here on out. We just felt that we had to ease into the year, you know? And what better way to official start off the blogging year than an outfit post!?!
I just recently purchased this orange and raspberry striped Maison Scotch top. It was on sale on Shopbop and exactly what I was looking for to wear with my orange pencil skirt. This is going to be one of my go-to work outfits for the spring. (I took off my coat while taking these photos and was freezing – all in the name of a decent blog photo!)
Maison Scotch blouse | J.Crew pencil skirt | Claire Vivier clutch | BCBG pumps from TJ Maxx
Lar bought me the Claire Vivier clutch over a year ago and it’s still one of my favorite pieces in my closet. She also purchased the ring and the nail polish I’m wearing. Isn’t she the best sister ever?
Two things I really love about this blouse: it’s machine washable and it has this sweet little bow closure on the back at the top of the zipper.
Have you guys been taking advantage of the post-holiday sales? I’ve only bought a few things and stayed within my budget, which I’m determined to stick to this year!

Dearest Lar,
It already feels like you’ve been gone for weeks and I hate it! When are you coming back to visit – or better yet – to stay?
I hung up the awesome tea towel you got me and it makes me think of you every time I see it.
I hope you have a great work week and drink lots of tea!
xoxo, Cath
What photo editing software do you use?
Photoshop. You could easily do the text and brushes in Photoshop Elements – so much cheaper too!
Hi Cath!
Ohmygorsh! I love that Maison Scotch top. You always find the best things on shopbop! And it so does match your skirt perfectly. I wish all work-appropriate, elegant tops were machine-wash. The ones I have that aren’t just sit in my closet for ages because they are too much of a commitment.
I can’t tell you how much I miss you! It has made it harder being home and then coming back — Edinburgh seems further away than before. We must use our twin powers (remember Twin Power!. aprons 😉 to move GB closer to the states.
Love you mucho,
Lar
Whatever happened to our twin power aprons? Those were the best!
And I have so many work shirts that just languish in my closet because i’m too lazy to iron them or too cheap to get them dry cleaned!
miss you so much! xoxo, Cath
Ok – I seriously thought I was the only one with that problem (allergic to ironing AND dry cleaning. what are the odds?!?!) Love the outfit 🙂 And let’s not talk about shopping. that last credit card bill was ROUGH. But I did get some stuff 70% off at the Target/Neiman Marcus collection! 🙂
cath you have never looked better! this outfit is so pretty! the colors look so identical. love it.
Thanks lady! You’re always so sweet!
I love the monotone look with colors!
I thought that was a dress! It looks so great. Happy new year ladies!
This colourful ensemble is like a jolt of sunshine on a dreary, rainy day! What a great go-to outfit for when the weather warms up.
I’m not a fan of orange but this outfit changes my mind. Lov-er-ly!
Thanks for all the sweet comments! You gals made my day!
xoxo, cath
Love the look with the similar colors. I see you braved the cold in the name of fashion!
love the outfit! at first i thought it was a dress. 🙂
The little bow! Ahhh, such sweet perfection! Wonderful outfit, lovely lady!
Count me among the thought-it-was-a-dress crowd. You are magical!
