Confession: I love doughnuts and am scared of guns. But that’s really being unfair toward guns because I’ve never tried one (and doughnuts and I go way back). I hate being scared of something just because I’ve never tried it, so I’ve always wanted to go to a shooting range. I figured once I understood how to use a gun (just like I understand how to shovel doughnuts down my gullet with not-a-crumb-wasted precision), I would, if not be a fan, know I had nothing to be scared of.
Okay, true that guns can be lethal and doughnuts are comparatively benign (unless given a plate of Duck’s Cosmic Kitchen doughnuts- and then you’re done for). I still felt that guns would be less scary with the proper instruction.
Enter Chloe of Chow Down Atlanta. Not only is she a genius foodie blogger, but she also happens to be a NRA instructor. Chloe introduced Cath and I to our first shooting experience at Quickshot last weekend.
We finished the day off with these (below)- those doughnuts from Duck’s that I mentioned. Seriously, you guys need to come visit us just to try these! And as much as I loved shooting (much less afraid of guns now), I do kind of wish we had more doughnuts than guns around. What a tasty world that would be!

As a past president of a pistol club and NRA instructor, I applaud you for having a levelheaded approach to your gun fear. And boy oh boy do those donuts look good!
huzzah! I am sooo excited to learn how to shoot! ( I will this year, hopefully, when I finally find time! 🙂 and donuts are yummy, but totally can be deadly! 🙂

Oh, those Duck’s donuts! They are irresistible. Those and a cup of Dancing Goats coffee and I’m happily vibrating through the rest of my day.
I’ve never shot a gun either, and like you I have always been very apprehensive about it. But those doughnuts on the other hand, yea no issues with eating a plate of them, they look delish!

Guns are pretty scary, I’ve only shot a rifle once. I went with my boyfriend because his boss wanted to shoot some rounds in the desert. They had all kinds of scary guns, so once was enough for me ever. Doughnuts would definitely make the world a better place instead.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen both of you girls with similar poufy hairstyles and now I’m confused! I think Belt-Bag/Jeans combo twin is Lar, because I could never imagine Cath wearing a belt bag, but then again, a Bomber jacket doesn’t seem the tough type of style Feminine Charmer Cath would typically wear.
You two did a good job of making me do a double head scratch this time, but if you took frontal shots, I totally would’ve nailed it. 😛
I think guns are scary, too, but they’re also kind of sexy at the same time. I’m a pretty mean shot (I think it’s because of all the Area51 practice I’ve had). in combat range, I’d be a total killer.

I went to a shooting range once and was definitely less scared of guns afterward. I still prefer they are not in my house, but they are definitely fun to shoot at a range.
