Snow in Hotlanta! And We Still Wear Heels!

We’re not getting nearly as much as our home state of Maryland, but 2 inches is nearly equivalent to a blizzard for us in the dirty south. Yes, we are rather trepidatious of little bits of snow, but to be fair we don’t have any snow plows and very few sand trucks, and nobody here owns a Subaru.*

Cath jumping for joy in the snow. And being very practical by wearing wellies instead of heels.

Arty things. love arty things.

The bf looking very French- in a manly way.

“Rahhh, you snow! I’ll show you and wear heels! Muahahaha!”

My lovely heels in the snow. These patent H&M boots look very snow proof or at least water proof, don’t they? Not a bit. My feet are now soaked through to my socks and I was outside for all of 10 minutes.

What Daphne Guiness (yes, the heiress of that drink that is a meal itself) says of wearing 7-inch heels in the snow:

Absolutely. If you can permanently shorten your calf muscles and tendons, I’ve done it.

Happy weekend, readers! Hope you’re having a great start to the best love/hate holiday of the year!

MUCH LUV,

Lar

*Cath has just informed me that many, many people in Decatur own Subarus. I think I’m just not a car person (I drive a beat up Chevy). Or maybe a Subaru just doesn’t look like a Sabaru when it’s out of its element (snow!).

  1. how funny – you guys are getting so much snow and here in my home city, Vancouver, where we are holding the winter olympic games, we have no snow and unseasonally warm weather! a bit of snow is fun but i don’t wish anymore on you poor souls!

and warning: do not wear heels, esp.stilettos in the snow!! you will regret it =D save that for the indoors.

  2. I can see you are having fun with the snow, we played outside like we have never seen snow before, this is so much fun let’s hope it doesn’t melt and that we can get one more batch of snow or so.

  3. I think it telling that you called them ‘sand trucks’. Do you guys really use sand? Enjoy the snow.

haha that’s funny about the cartridge belt. I had that photo from looking when you asked me about them. I totally stole your idea!

I had seen that article in the times. It’s really interesting, although part of me always feels guilty about reading stuff like that. He seemed like such a private guy. I even feel badly about reading the unpublished work-although I guess not bad enough not to read it. I just wouldn’t want anyone to read something I didn’t publish. It’s interesting though, hearing about his correspondence. I guess I never really thought of him as that much of a weirdo or loner-just uncomfortable with fame and the way he became such a strange focus for people-like he was forced to become the reification of Holden. I always thought of him as someone who must have a lot of conversations-or at least observed them. And his writing was far to witty and sharp for him not to be charming in person. Anyways enough of me cluttering your site up with personal Salinger rants. Enjoy your weekend-happy new year! (Do you guys do the whole red envelope thing?)

  4. i had a pair of boots that “seemed” water proof the first time I wore them in this weather a few weeks ago, come to find out this blizzard has proven (whoa I always thought there would be 2 o’s in that) me wrong
    enjoy the snow!!!!!!

  5. I am impressed by your heels. I walked down the street to The Albert (no cars due to snow) in some awesome wellies and almost busted it a few times. And Chico is refusing to go to the bathroom outside. He needs his own wellies.

  6. We love your blog too! I love that you guys smile in your photos! It makes me so happy!! You’re one of our daily reads for us, and now on our blogroll too!

  7. My word. Snow in Hotlanta. If that don’t beat all [/Kansastalk].

You two are so cute in your boots. What a damn shame those shiny ones aren’t waterproof. No fair.

  8. These photos look like so much fun! I remember your comments on my snow photos about how you guys never get snow! Oh how the tables have turned haha!

  9. These pictures are such fun! I wish it snowed in Southern California.but then again that’s a rather futile wish. Loving those H&M heels too!

  10. Love that photo of Cath! When Bec and I were in school in Maryland, we survived the Blizzard of ’03- did you remember that? We lived at the bars for 4 days straight and our town was shut down- was literally a ghost town and even 7-11 was 1 in and 1 out like a bar. It was hilarious and the best time ever. Happy Valentine’s Day to you both!! xo, Mel

  11. sucks when you think the shoes are waterproof– and then end up sick for the next week oh oh. i do hope it didnt go that way with you. its very snowy where im at too right now but i long deeply for spring&summer.

    xx ediot

  12. Enjoy the snow! It looks like you guys are having fun. I’m still kind of amazed that Atlanta can actually get snow while we all the way up north in washington don’t have any at all.

  13. I was bewildered by the snow! It’s just one of those things–when everyone starts panicking about winter weather, it rarely ever comes true. Looks like you guys had a blast!

  14. ha! I love that you still wore the heels. I wore my new jessica simpson dany’s out on Friday night and busted my arse more than once, I do believe. As long as you look awesome though, it’s ok!

  15. i can’t believe those boots are so absorbent! what the hell? ha. i hate when that happens! i try to avoid winter boots too but sometimes i just need traction so i won’t fall on my butt 🙁
    stupid snow!

  16. LOL at the Subaru discovery, you’re too cute.
You guys look to be having so much fun in the snow. Come visit Toronto!

Those boots definitely look waterproof. Boo for letting you down like that.

I need to enjoy the snow like that.lately I just make stink faces when I see it really coming down and we have to drive in it.

Oh and y’all are too sweet to offer me up a place to stay so I can shop my heart’s content at your awesome Tar-jays!

  17. Just a comment on the short calves. I once volunteered in the physical therapy department of a hospital, and there was an older woman who’s calf muscles were so short that she can no longer walk barefoot. Her feet were always pointed so she could only walk on her toes. Just a little warning of what could happen.
