We hope everyone had a lovely, lovely weekend! We stuffed ourselves silly with Peking Duck (it’s an AsianCajun Thanksgiving: stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, string beans, cranberry sauce and Peking Duck) and other delicious food stuffs cooked up by wonderful family and friends. Ahh warm fuzzy holiday feelings are the best… until you are dragged back to reality with a soggy, blustery, cold Monday and a too-early wake-up call for work. And I was just getting used to the whole sleeping in, hanging out and eating all day schedule.
To cheer ourselves up a bit, Cath and I decided to wear our matching pleather H&M (from a few years ago) bomber jackets.

Cath, being a very responsible government employee, dressed her faux leather with faux fur, chic wedge oxfords, and a delicate sweater.

Faux fur and faux bling= brilliant accessorizing. Way to go, Cath! I’m coveting that diamond-headed bird ring on her left hand.

At my job, I don’t tend to schmooze with clients on a daily basis, so I opted for a dressed-down approach to the pleather: white tee, gray pants, black boots, and a hair poof (my signature I-didn’t-have-time-to-wash-my-hair fix).

I think the stud trend has pretty much rolled over and died, but I have residual stud-age languishing in my closet (see DIY collar on mens Hanes shirt below). Studs and pleather/leather still make very happy bedfellows don’t you think?

Next on the AsianCajun agenda? Prepping for the winter holidays. I love twinkly fairy lights and sugar cookies and the smell of fresh evergreen, but the thought of holiday shopping is making me want to hibernate until the New Year. Does that sound too Scrooge-y?

November 30th, 2009 at 8:37 pmI absolutely love Peking Duck! I tend to stuff myself with it all year round until I feel sick…everytime

You two are too cute with your fabulous matching jackets. I’m loving Cath’s bird sparkler!
And your studded tee. I don’t think the trend is over…or at least that’s what I tell myself, LOL. Oh well, if it is – let’s me and you keep it alive
So far I’m enjoying the Christmas shopping…but now I’m onto the hard ones like my dad, my uncle and cousin’s fiance…the men are always so hard to shop for.
Have a great week you two![Reply]

November 30th, 2009 at 10:08 pmMmmm. Peking duck. Want.
Studs will come and go as the trend of the moment. For some women they will last forever. There’s no shame in it!

November 30th, 2009 at 11:16 pmHaha, matching jackets! So cute! I agree with the stud sentiment, I don’t want to put them away though, I just want studs to stop being a trend and become a bit of a classic.
And, I love the pant length on Cath… perfectly chic.[Reply]

December 1st, 2009 at 12:46 amYou two look great in your matching jackets! Mmm Peking duck…my family does hot pot instead of turkey and the traditional holiday meal for Christmas. Less work and not as much butter/fat, but still so delicious.

December 1st, 2009 at 3:34 amSounds like you guys had a fabulous Thanksgiving.. duck… yums! We had all the traditional fixings and crab legs!! oooh so yummy. and of course Thanksgiving isn’t Thanksgiving, without my mother-in-law’s Pumpkin Roll. OMG, no matter how full you get there is always room for Pumpkin Roll.
I love those jackets on both of you. It must be so great to have a twin… I have an older sister, but she lives on a different island.. we see eachother at least 5 – 7 times a year, so that’s pretty great.
Hope you ladies have a fabulous week… I’m dreading the X-mas shopping too…
… still too many crazies out there!! ha ha. Take care sweeties.[Reply]

Love both of your looks and really digging the sweatpants! I have no idea what to get my dad for Christmas so it’s stressing me out! My mom’s easy with jewelry but even then it’s hard to find a really unique piece! So ya, I want to hibernate too
Hope you ladies have a fabulous week ahead! xo, Mel[Reply]

December 1st, 2009 at 9:40 amYour traditions were kind of similar to my thanksgiving traditions while I was growing up in a very Southeast Asian/American household.
We adapted the Thanksgiving tradition, but we’d already been celebrating it a month earlier in Canada…
We always had adobo steak and rice and chicken and pancit (our stir fried rice noodle/veggies dish) in addition to turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans and other stuff.
Man, I miss eating rice at the holidays. Rice Pilaf doesn’t count. Which is funny, because my new family is Pilipino (one side of in-laws) as well!
Be sure to hop on by back to thereafterish., I’ve been posting a bunch of stuff lately. I think you’d be proud.

December 4th, 2009 at 12:50 amOhmigosh, I just found AsianCajuns via Snapshot Fashion and I am fully in love! The two of you are adorable. And can I just say that those gray pants? I need! So cute with black suede boots. And you totally don’t sound Scrooge-y in terms of hibernating until the New Year – holiday shopping has me in a tizzy as well! Since when did retail therapy become so complicated?!
