White After Labor Day

First off, thank you to everyone that wrote such kind words in response to the previous post. The comments made being almost mentioned in WWD even that much better!

Now, on to more pressing matters. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not one to follow cliched fashion rules so I didn’t think twice about building an outfit around my white blazer. Of course once I looked into the mirror after dressing, the white shirt and white blazer seemed a bit too bright for October.

Enter the gradient scarf! The white-to-cream-to-gray-to-cream-to-white of the scarf broke up the whiteness of the outfit enough to make it work-appropriate and post Labor Day appropriate – for those who care about that sort of thing.

Shirt and skirt from Asos, H&M blazer and scarf, BCBG pumps.

I wear these black patent pumps to work all the time. They’re nearly impossible to walk in, but I love the height of the heel and the overall versatility of the shoe. They’re by BCBG, but I got them at TJ Maxx at while ago for $35. FTW!

  1. Love the addition of the scarf and those heels are fab. The height of the heel is perfect! Hope you ladies are enjoying your weekends!

  2. I think you can wear white until it gets too snowy and messy outside (white + slush= gross), important rule here in Canada.
I think this looks classic and pretty.

  3. You are right. The scarf makes all the difference. It’s amazing how one thing can elevate one look. The shoes are awesome. My favorite style- minimal and classic. Congrats on “almost” being mentioned on WWD. Btw, 150 people don’t comment on a blog if it isn’t really good. You deserve the accolades – for an interesting blog, and for your invaluable insights and opinions.

  4. I love the scarf! This post totally helped me out last night when I was trying to figure out what to wear luckily I had a similar scarf but it was black it completely made my outfit!

  5. I like the addition of the gradient scarf! I’m jealous you look so warm, it’s freeeeezing here!!
    Congratulations on the interview 🙂

  6. Is it terrible to say I can’t wait to get back to cooler weather? (my inner midwestener always shines through at the worst times.)

I do love that women can say ‘They’re impossible to walk in, but versatile” in the same sentence.
