A little while ago I threatened the return of the biker short (see here). That was not an empty threat (as most of you hoped ๐ ). I’ve been sporting these hot, shiny things all summer: under big tees and – my favorite- incongruously girlie dresses. I actually have a second item of neon hidden under all this feminine lace and cream: a hot pink bandeau (also from American Apparel).ย
I like the idea of the pink just barely peaking out. It reminds me of the red petticoat Rhett buys for Mammy in Gone With The Wind- you can only see glimpses of red when she swishes around.
I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’m still a fan of neon and still a fan of bike shorts. For those of you who hate both of those things- no worries, they will be put away for the winter. I’ll have to find cold weather replacements. Any thoughts? Maybe an actual red petticoat.ย
I think the way you’ve paired them with the dress is cute. My most pervasive memory of pink bike shorts, though, was this chick in high school who wore hers with a CROP top and GRANNY PANTIES that had GIANT blue flowers on them. And my God, could you see them.from miles away. I doubt you’ll go there, but word of warning to your readers.
This is very cute and different. I like the contrast with the dress.
haha i just love the explanation- you seem like such an down to earth amazing girl. i love neon. and i love these bikershorts in contrast to the lace. well made combo. great blog dear
Lar, you are too cute! I love how this is a modern take to the red petticoat Rhett buys for Mammy in Gone With The Wind:)
I also adore the pink peeking out of your lace top, it looks so feminine and delicate. I’d never have thought of pairing these two items in this manner:P
I love the biker shorts actually, I have a pair of black ones that I wear under dresses and baggy tops as well and I LOVE it ๐ American Apparel is amazing
Eye Spy hot pink biker shorts in City Hall. What would Stephen Decatur think?
it’s so funny because I bought some black ones at american apparel about a year ago and about three people looked at me with “that look” and said, really, bike shorts? .and of course I said. um, yes. Love it!
heyyy! such a cute outfit!
ps thanks, yes i did change my format. i like it stretched out better. dont know why i never saw that template before. i want to do more to it but just need to find the time to.
Don’t put them away just yet! I love neon. And I love the contrast between the girly-ness of the dress and the boldness of the shorts. The added perk of the slight translucence of the dress makes this an even more impeccable combination.
P.S. Thanks for all the great comments on my blog! I really love your input.
The pairing of these two are so great!!! I loveee the hint of color!!! You make me want to get those neon shorts! ๐
Love it! I have a short little black skirt that I’m kinda scared to wear, but it would be great with a neon pair of shorts like yours!!!!
good amount of “pizazz”.i was going to get some of my own but in a quiet color.sadly i dont see myself needing them a lot as of right now even though i guess i would be making a very good investment in them
I love this. I’ve seen the transparent tops with the black bra look underneath and never liked it much. But this is so pretty and feminine without being in your face sexual. It’s cute. And it’s a great way to wear the sheer stuff comfortably.
What a beautiful dress ๐ Love the fusion of your outfit!
This post was adorable, and you totally rock the neon! SOOO CUTE!
I love how the hot pink looks with the sheer white dress layered on top.
ahh neon and bike shorts.no side ponytail?
I think this is just a fabulous look and works amazingly well, love it!
that’s a great look! love it! it’s a modern take on a vintage looking piece.
I think you look great in the neon pink biker shorts! And these totally came back in style I actually noticed that after you first wrote about them. ๐ I’m debating over getting floral biker shorts totally 90’s. Hope you have a fabulous week!
