The Magical Tube Tunic

Cath and I consider ourselves pretty staunch recessionistas. Most of the clothes in our respective closets are not new, and the few items that are new we tend to wear repeatedly (as evidenced on this very blog). For instance, that hat above is from an Urban Outfitter’s sale last year and the flower attached to it was swiped from costume wardrobe for a ballet we were in (not that I condone swiping generally).

But I’m not immune to shiny new purchases. I whimper and drool and if I decide to go for it, I feel a little guilty. Unless… unless, it’s something so versatile and practical that it pays for itself as you unwrap it from its packaging: enter Free People’s Stripped Seamless Tube.

Here are just a few ways to wear it:

lar_number3 As a skirt.

Three outfits for a measly $28! Not bad, eh?

Do you have a piece in your closet that does the same? I’m addicted. I need to find more of these chameleon articles of clothing that masquerade as tops, bottoms, slips, under-things and guilt-free consumerism (truly guilt-free would also somehow help others and save humanity in some way- expecting too much?).

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

xoxo,

LL

I love this! How is that only $28? They majorly hike up the prices in the Canada – I don’t know what exchange rate they use. I also love that jumpsuit. And that hair pic…it’s like shampoo commercial, haha, but not a cheesy one ;)

Oh btw, I was in F21 yesterday and totally thought of you as I spotted, and tried on, a grey straw fedora. I loved it but the practical side of me kicked in and I thought it might get deformed in my luggage and that I should wait to get a wool one for Fall. Darn logic.
Happy weekend, to you and Cath!

I love versatile items like that! That tube dress would also look fab as a top worn with trousers/skirt and a blazer. It’s such a shame UO is horribly expensive in Europe…. sigh.

I adore multi-functional pieces by the way. I just bought a cardigan, where the sleeves can be varied to any length (using a drawstring) and the whole thing also doubles as a shawl. Otherwise I tend to buy tops that can be worn as long tees or skirts (with tights usually).

Ah yes…theres always the “But I can wear it so many ways!” argument. Theres also the “dollar per wear”…so you will be saving ALOT of dollars. hmmm….wonder if you could find a way to wear it every day for 7 days and make it look different? I challenge you…GO. LOL

I do this too! I’m going back to uni in a months time so have been trying to curb my spending for the last few months. Every purchase has to be completely versatile or something that just can’t live without. I did pretty well today, I went into Topshop and came out with nothing…yes!

Wow, what a versatile tube top! Love all the three outfits that you came up with! I’ve been trying to be more frugal too cos my closet is literally bursting with clothes…hehe…and that has forced me to think creatively of different ways to wear something that’s already in the closet, which I have to admit is quite fun at times! At least I get to experiment and think out of the box:P
