Cath and I consider ourselves pretty staunch recessionistas. Most of the clothes in our respective closets are not new, and the few items that are new we tend to wear repeatedly (as evidenced on this very blog). For instance, that hat above is from an Urban Outfitter’s sale last year and the flower attached to it was swiped from costume wardrobe for a ballet we were in (not that I condone swiping generally).
But I’m not immune to shiny new purchases. I whimper and drool and if I decide to go for it, I feel a little guilty. Unless. unless, it’s something so versatile and practical that it pays for itself as you unwrap it from its packaging: enter Free People’s Stripped Seamless Tube.
Here are just a few ways to wear it:
As a tube top.
Layered under a jumpsuit.
As a skirt.
Three outfits for a measly $28! Not bad, eh?
Do you have a piece in your closet that does the same? I’m addicted. I need to find more of these chameleon articles of clothing that masquerade as tops, bottoms, slips, under-things and guilt-free consumerism (truly guilt-free would also somehow help others and save humanity in some way- expecting too much?).
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
LL
I love this! How is that only $28? They majorly hike up the prices in the Canada – I don’t know what exchange rate they use. I also love that jumpsuit. And that hair pic.it’s like shampoo commercial, haha, but not a cheesy one 😉
Oh btw, I was in F21 yesterday and totally thought of you as I spotted, and tried on, a grey straw fedora. I loved it but the practical side of me kicked in and I thought it might get deformed in my luggage and that I should wait to get a wool one for Fall. Darn logic.
Happy weekend, to you and Cath!
xx
p.s. Thanks for the sweet comment. I always look forward to your posts 🙂
such a great find!!!
lovessss it!!!! i have to get me one now!
love it as a tubetop. you look stunning!
Totally fabulous, it looks great and is such a stylish versatile piece in your wardrobe-well done!
ah. did not see the last one- its even prettier as a skirt dear. my favourite
that’s a great steal! i definitely need to get myself some multi-wear/versatile items. it’s a great colour too!
thts really cool! I think i have to get me one now!!
I love versatile items like that! That tube dress would also look fab as a top worn with trousers/skirt and a blazer. It’s such a shame UO is horribly expensive in Europe sigh.
I adore multi-functional pieces by the way. I just bought a cardigan, where the sleeves can be varied to any length (using a drawstring) and the whole thing also doubles as a shawl. Otherwise I tend to buy tops that can be worn as long tees or skirts (with tights usually).
I love this post!!! It’s soo great how you showed three completely different looks with that one simple tube tube tunic!!! Have a great weekend! 🙂
Oooh I love it, what a great piece of clothing!
That’s a great inspriation!! And guess what? I have the same tube dress!! I wanted to get that in black & white but it was sold out so I got it in red/black and I really love it although it’s a bit too close to skin. I never thought of wearing it under neather the jumpsuit!! Thank you for sharing your genius ideas and have an amazing weekend! xxoxoxoxoxo
Ah yes.theres always the “But I can wear it so many ways!” argument. Theres also the “dollar per wear”.so you will be saving ALOT of dollars. hmmmwonder if you could find a way to wear it every day for 7 days and make it look different? I challenge you.GO. LOL
savvy and stylish. it is a great buy b/c it’s so versatile. i usually will let myself buy something new if i can convince me i will use it forever. : )
That’s just a gorgeous, versatile look! I would probably wear it as a tube dress and a tube top proper!
great idea! and i’m sure there are even more ways you can wear it! maybe as a scarf too?
I do this too! I’m going back to uni in a months time so have been trying to curb my spending for the last few months. Every purchase has to be completely versatile or something that just can’t live without. I did pretty well today, I went into Topshop and came out with nothing.yes!
Great versatile find. I bet with a little more experimentation we’ll see you wear this piece in even more ways!
Have a great weekend, AsianCajuns!
I’m a recessionista too. It’s like the new black.
very good ideas with that dress.
PS: yep, ruben toledo did the draws for Saks.

Wow, you really know how to work that piece. But what I really want to know is how you take such good pictures! I need help!
very creative dressing. I have a few dresses that I wear as skirts, dresses, and tops. Your pictures are so fun.
I hate the term recessionista, but I do like the look.
Wow, what a versatile tube top! Love all the three outfits that you came up with! I’ve been trying to be more frugal too cos my closet is literally bursting with clothes.hehe.and that has forced me to think creatively of different ways to wear something that’s already in the closet, which I have to admit is quite fun at times! At least I get to experiment and think out of the box:P
YOU DID USE IT. LOVIN IT AS SKIRT AND DRESS. LOVE IT!

Ahh nice, I especially love it as a tube top and a skirt!
Love the tube top shot with the big floppy hat!
Clothes that work hard like that are awesome! At first, I was a bit dubious when you just wore it as a dress but seeing the three ways you wore it, I was really convinced.
