Versatile Layers

So I really do think this past weekend might have been our last hurrah at summer. We had sun, we had heat (80s, right?) and I turned on our air conditioning on Saturday. I decided to embrace this last gasp of Southern summer with sleeveless layering.

(Outer to inner layer) Heliotrope earrings, Forever21 vest and belt, Tracy Feith for Target dress (“dress”? it’s more like a tunic- a short tunic), Target bubble skirt, New Orleans Mardis Gras mask.

I dressed the layers down with some old denim and my “Roman Holiday” sandals (really from Florence, but Gregory Peck doesn’t need to know) when I went to the Oakhurst Arts And Music Festival on Saturday.

Ooo I still love this torso ring from Evolve Boutique. I don’t wear it too often because it’s a bit big for me, but I think it’s lovely.

Apart from the Oakhurst Festival, Cath and I went to Cooper Sanchez’s show at Oakland Cemetery, I pulled out my winter clothes and reorganized my closet (with much cursing and muttering), and had a delicious Sunday dinner with family and friends.

Hope you guys had a marvelous weekend!!! What are you up to this week?

  1. CUTE! I love the way you stick skirts with a little volume under tunics.

I too switched out my winter clothes for my summer clothes recently, and I too cursed and experienced a tummy filling with dread. There was some warm stuff in there, but not as much as I hoped!

  2. so kute!!! love the summer layering. last week we were in the 90s then over the weekend had a spurt of fall i think we’ll be back to the 90s soon enough though. ๐Ÿ™

  3. That ring is killer! And I love the flowy dress, too!

Glad you guys enjoyed Relics and Rarities (I think my dad would dig it, too). And I am all over a Decatur blogger meetup. I would think that Decatur Metro would be up for it. or is he Mr. Anonymous?

  4. Wow, that ring is awesome. And thanks for the kind words on my Serpico thing-your post on the film is awesome! I think all boys want to be Serpico.

No plans this week other than eating pastries and wondering in bamboo and tea fields.

ps. I still can’t believe you guys haven’t been to a pro basketball game before.

  5. Oh my gosh I LOVE that ring, Lauren! And I love how such a sweet flowy outfit can be casualed up with the simple addition of some denim. Lovely! Enjoy the heat, ma’dear, cause it’s 46* and dropping here in Chicago.

  6. That first pic – one of my favourite of yours for sure, love the outfit! Yes, I agree, it is a tad short, but still so cute – maybe it’ll work with some leggings and your over the knee boots?
    Love that ring too!
And thank you for your sweet comments always, it’s hard, even when I’m busy, to stay away from blogging.LOL, I need to learn how to put that aside and focus on the tasks ahead. Now I’m sick and stuck in a hotel room so I can finally catch up ๐Ÿ™‚
    xx

  7. Great ring and great layering! Oh summer, I am going to miss you. So, when you did your closet flip for winter clothes, did you promptly put the tunic and skirt away again?

  8. Definitely cute! I love the floral hem peeking out. But most of all, I love the shelf of pretty little knick knacks behind you. I’m definitely a knick knack girl too.

  9. Love this layered look on you! And I adored those new thigh-highs you got a few posts back! I’m currently looking for a decent-priced pair, so I really hope I’ll find some I like. Thanks so much for your views on New Orleans by the way. I’ll definitely make a point of visiting the next time we’re in the U.S. I’ve always been fascinated by places that were a melting-pot of different cultures and NOLA does have such a unique background!

  10. Ooh I love this outfit! It looks gorgeous as a dress, and equally cute with the denim shorts. Plus I love the mask! Wouldn’t it be beautiful if we could wear it out?

  11. Love the choices, especially together. Feels like you still miss summer, but I live near Seattle, so I’m sure it works for Atlanta.
