T-Shirt/Jeans Uniform

cathstyle_logo_rev

Usually I get a little peeved when a celeb or model says, “I’m really just a t-shirt and jeans girl.” It seems like such a cop out. It’s so not descriptive. Thin, tissue shirts with skinny jeans? Baggy boyfriend jeans with baby doll tees? Frumpy denim with old boxy Hanes tees screen printed with company logos?

I could say the outfit below is just jeans and a t-shirt, but it’s a bit more than that, right? At least I’d like to think so. Thin, slightly oversized white tee with cropped skinny jeans, brown leather belt and my favorite platforms.

Lar took this pic of me right after we met up with a friend at Tap in midtown. I’m a big fan of Tap: good food (they use to have the best fried okra ever, but sadly no longer have it on their menu), good beer list, wine on tap and an unusual understated interior (red stained wood paneling with a modern take on a rustic look). Also the special that night was pate wrapped in bacon. What’s not to love?

  1. I know this is totally stereotyping models and actresses. But many of them have a limited education, and despite being worldly and well-traveled, still have problems reaching for the right descriptive words. Maybe? anyway. You look good in your “tee shirt and jeans.”

  2. always great outfits from you two! i have given you ladies a blog award which i am pretty sure you ladies have already!

    xoxo

  3. You two sisters are the cutest! I love your style, sense of humor and how you two are always together. I have a twin sister as well and she’s my best friend (and worst enemy sometimes, too!). Love the new look of your blog. Have a great Monday!

  4. Oh I just love throwing on a simple white tee, jeans and a great pair of shoes. You look great! And no, nothing beats bacon wrapped in anything. 🙂

    xo, Becs

  5. You bring up such a good point: there are so very many ways to be a jeans and t-shirt kind of person. Edun skinnies and a tissue thin shirt are night and day different from the t-shirt and jeans that What Not To Wear contestants sport. We need new words!

  6. Your post reminds me of Anna Wintour saying Jeans and tshirts can be so stylish and worn in so many different ways. You look very chic and classy! I love to experiment with the way I wear my “jeans and tshirt” look too! xxoxoxoox

  7. Levis and oversized white button down are my go-to items for those frumpy days coincidentally, today happens to be one of those days. HA. Maybe it’s the rain that constantly hammered down on my plans over the weekend.

  8. Yes. I like a lot of adjectives when it comes to someone talking about their clothes. And I really love those thin burnout tees that are starting to come out. You look very casual yet pulled-together.

  9. man, i just can’t get behind the tap enthusiasm. maybe because i’m spoiled from my decatur days, but if your restaurant is named “tap” then i’m going to expect a more extensive beer list!

    1. I totally agree. I always go to Tap thinking I’m going to end up enjoying a nice beer and I always end up ordering a glass of wine because the beer selection is pretty weak. I just love sitting outside in the middle of Colony Square.

  10. I love the ease of being able to throw a tee and jeans together but you’re so right, there is much more to that! I’m sure if 10 ladies who love to wear “jeans and a tee” stood next to each other, they’d each rock the look in their own unique style. Your rock those jeans and tee 🙂

Mmmmm.friend okra, definitely on my list of must-try foods.

  11. You know, now that you point it out, I do hear a lot of models and actresses describe themselves thus. It also angers me when people describe themselves as “nerds.” Like, seriously? What kind of nerd?

Deets. We’re in the era of overdetailing our lives, you can’t learn to describe with concrete detail or figurative language? C’mon!

And yes, with the denim industry making itself a fashion unto its own, as well as cotton t’s, it’s imperative to make the differentiation verbally.

Fashionistas aren’t always known for their grasp of language, though, sadly.

I love the simplicity and elegance of this outfit!
