Weekend Inspiration

Lately I’ve become obsessed with, what I like to call, the “Dwell Magazine look”: clean, modern lines, warm woodstains mixed with an indie lifestyle (preferably in Brooklyn). I love the idea of making a modern home feel homey and lived-in, but organized and simple, and Dwell completely captures that.

Well, one look at Pauline Forster and Toby Penrose’s George Tavern and home on The Selby has kicked me out of my modern mood and into a more artsy/fartsey, loose, chaotic sensibility.

This imagine makes me wish I had a turquoise silk robe to putz about my house in.

I don’t think you can get any homier than hanging cups on hooks. Now I’m itching to install a few hooks in my apartment kitchen. If it happens, I’ll post pictures.

The answer to what you do with all of your red and purple shoes you no longer wear.

I think ultimately I’ll find a middle ground between modern clean lines and broken china while I’m decorating my place, but it’s nice to dream every once in a while about living above some crazy London tavern with water-stained walls and original art everywhere. That being said, living in a newish, loft-like apartment just outside of Atlanta is pretty nice too. Once Lar and I finish organizing everything I promise well post photos of our place!

  1. Mm-kay baby. Just don’t let your hair get like that. 😉

So, if I do the research project I blogged about, I am definitely going to ask for your participation. Both of yous. 🙂

  2. Omg I love this place!!! LOVE the shoes on top of the bar (is that a bar in the house??!!) I am going to start strategically placing my shoes everywhere now. Can’t wait to see pics of your place!

  3. It is a fine line between the cluttered boho-chic look and plain crazy cat lady. Cool pics for sure though. I’d take almost any of the homes on The Selby.

ps. do you guys want any foreign vogues or other magazines? I keep seeing them everywhere here.

  4. Their home looks really cool! I love their use of shoes :-).I think when I have an house of my own, I would want it to be very minimalistic.and mostly black and white with some pops of color! I can’t wait to see your decorations! xxooxxo

  5. i love clean lines as well. with classic chic. its hard decorating! man its going to be forever before i am done! good luck with all the home decor! can’t wait to see pics of the new place.

  6. Ooh, I do think it’d be so fun to visit and lounge at a place like this but my boring type A personality tells me I couldn’t actually replicate this at home. I do love those coziness of the hanging cups – that I could definitely do! Can’t wait to see pics of your digs 🙂
