Put A Feather in Your Hair

Aren’t these feathers gorgeous? Cath had them put in her hair the other day at Squash Blossom. I sooo wish I had been there to get all subtly hippie-fied. Cath was worried that it would be considered unprofessional at her place of work (city government), so she had the feather lady (Cath, what’s her name?) hide them under a few layers.

Generally Cath dresses with such professionalism (no short-shorts for her at work  – can’t say the same thing for her twin sister) that a few feathers are just her piece of flare. What say you?

Two Things You Need To Know About Tuesday

Cath looking excited about her Squash Blossom purchases.

1) Squash Blossom, one of our most favoritist Decatur boutiques, is having their 50% of everything sale (50% of EVERYTHING! Guys, they have Campers, Frye’s, gorgeous jewelery and clothes). It’s only this week, so go, go, vit, vit!

2) Cath and I will be on Good Day Atlanta (the local FOX channel) tomorrow morning talking about shopping in Decatur, GA. So tune in for our 5 seconds of local fame! And it’s LIVE, which means extra unedited awkwardness on our part – we can’t wait! If it’s suitably embarrassing, we’ll make sure to post the video here for our non-local readers soon. Keep those fingers crossed!*

Hope you guys had a wonderful Monday! Cath and I made up for our lack of birthday celebration (we quietly commemorated the beginning of our 28th year being sick on vacation) by doing a bit of belated birthday shopping on our lunch break. So for a Monday, I feel pretty peachy! Plus, I’ve got a batch of sweet potato fries a-cookin’ in my oven for dinner. You know, Monday, sometimes you ain’t so bad!

* Tuesday Morning Edit:
Here’s our two seconds of fame, guys! We’re in the first 2 minutes and then our friends Julia at Squash Blossom and Mike at the Brick Store take over. Go, Decatur!

Vacation Recovery

Sorry for the slow blogging these last few days! Do you ever have those vacations where you come back more tired and grumpy than before?

I was so excited about our trip to our old home-state (Maryland! Crabs! Family! Friends!), but I managed to give Cath and Matt a stomach flu. If you had any doubts before, stomach flu and 14-hour road trips do not mix well. Between the three of us being sick I think we had 4 good days sans nausea – so we had to make the most of it.

Look, here is Cath (pre-stomach flu) looking so cute, prepping for Maryland crabs and cold beer (nom!):

Once you get outside of the trashier bits of Ocean City (I use the descriptor “trashy” fondly), there are some great gems like roadside farm stands:

. and wild ponies/horses on Assateague Island:

Ooo and crab cakes, sweet corn and Boardwalk fries (again pre-stomach flu):

Watching clouds that look like jelly fishies! Does that only happen by the ocean?

Running away from dinosaurs:

Then hiding from them:

Cloudy beaches:

Yummy fruity drinks (that would have been alcoholic if I hadn’t just gotten over the stomach flu):

I apologize if I just said “stomach flu” like three million times in one post. I find it funny though, if you just look at these pics, it looks like we had a perfect vacay and I should be feeling nicely tanned and perfectly refreshed.  I didn’t take any photos of me gripping a plastic bag around my face and shivering in the front seat of the car. I wouldn’t want to inflict that on any of our lovely readers, but that’s kind of what I think of when someone asks “How was your vacation?!” “My wahh-huh?”

And we missed you guys! We’ll be back to regular blogging (sans mention of beach or flu) shortly!

Ocean City Update

Hi Lovelies!

So it turns out getting the wifis in our retro condo by the sea was a lot harder than we thought. Right now we are at a hotel just outside of D.C. (happy belated birthday, country!) getting ready to meet our Maryland  fam for dim sum. One more night on the road and we’ll be back in the ATL.

For me this vacay started out pretty miserably (sick for the first 2 days or so – even on our birthday, bah), but there have been some major highlights once I managed to drag myself out of the condo: boardwalk funnel cake, doughnuts, sunny beach days, putt-putt golf!

We’ll “see” you guys back in Atlanta soon! Hope you’re having a wonderful week – let us know what you’ve been up to!
